I have been studying in Coventry University for almost four years now and although my student days are almost over, my daily culinary mission remains the same: how to maximize my eating pleasure while minimizing what I spend. This should come as a solution to the new comers who have recently joined and are not familiar with the university. It is needless to say that we will share the same preferences, and for this reason, I have chosen affordable restaurant that offer a variety of products in their menus.

Whilst Coventry may be small in inhabitation and space, the city is advantageous for students to navigate across, making everything easily accessible for all students. The prices are all fairly reasonable, which makes it easier for the students to eat their way across town without being left to feel broke. I would like to share some of my memorable experience and narrowing down the list to 10 restaurants all Coventry student should consider visiting, stated in no order of importance. My choice of preferences includes restaurants that may not be as well known as Nando's, Bella Italia, Wagamamas etc.. However the list will not leave you feeling disappointed ;)

1. COSY CLUB

This is a new restaurant that opened the end of last year, and it has an amazing atmosphere. The environment is very smart, sophisticated, that is very inviting. This may be your ideal place if you are feeling stressed from a hectic day, apteral its all stated in the name.

I have visited the restaurant many times due to its proximity in the city center and the university. The menu offers different meals during the day, from breakfast to dinner and any snacks in between. The restaurant is also known for their delicious cocktails, rich in flavors and taste. The prices are affordable and well worth the money.

However due to high demands, it can sometimes make it very limiting in amount of spaces available, therefore I would advice people to book a table before visiting.

2. HABIBI

This is an Arab restaurant that is a lot bigger than it looks and offers a wide range of Middle Eastern, including some African dishes. If you are like me who enjoys mezzes and baklava as a dessert, then this is the right place for you. The dishes may look small but they are very filling, particularly the starters, will not leave you feeling disappointed. The restaurant is light with candles and fairy lights which looks really romantic. The Bedouin tent is a must-see, weather permitting - although they have heating and blankets available. Most people prefer to smoke shisha outside. The prices are very reasonable, the taste and the amount of food very good. Alcohol is not sold, but you can bring your own and pay a corkage fee.

3. CHI BAR

For all the Asian cuisine lovers, Chi Bar is a small restaurant ideal for lunch. The food is fantastic and very rich in flavours, along side with a very fast efficient customer service. The menu varies from Katsu curry, dim sums, tofu, noodles, vegetarian dishes and bubble tea. Portions are big and the prices are very affordable. The restaurant now offers bento boxes on the go and they are also open for takeaway delivery.

4. YAKI

This is another Asian restaurant that is well know for their home made sushi buffet and authentic Japanese food. The location for this restaurant may be difficult to find (near Britannia Hotel) but it is worth a visit. The environment is fairly small and intimate, which may be ideal for afternoon meals. Their exotic drinks are worth a try for those who are seeking to try something different.

About Me

My name is Arlinda . I was born in a small city in the middle of Albania called Elbasan. At the age of 10 I moved to England with my parents and brother. Experiencing a new culture and having to adapt my life at such a young age was a huge challenge, however it has also proven to be one of the most rewarding.
